Aerowatt Classic

Can't get enough of old heavy metal?
Join Aerowatt as we travel down the road of classic metal. Formed by two aerospace workers (Todd Granacki and Steve Cole) and a So Cal Edison guy (Michael Whyte), Aerowatt formed for the specific goal of playing at our annual church carnival.

All three members play with other groups, but they trace a common musical line to the classic metal songs of yesterday. Completely playing for fun, we received many more compliments than we ever expected (our expectations were zero-which helps). We try and get together at least once before the annual carnival (maybe twice if we're really lucky). In any event, this really is all for fun. If someone enjoys songs from the now gone radio stations KMET & KNAC, we hope to bring a smile to your face. We played opening night at Carnival 2003 and Carnival 2004.

Carnival 2005 - May 13th

It was a hot day but the evening cooled down by the time we climbed on stage. Mike, Todd and Steve worked the stage setup during the day. Problems with the electrical power caused some early stumbles, but by 9:00 a large crowd was forming. 2/5ths played earlier in the evening, followed by a 1/2 hour dance show. Aerowatt struck the first cord at 9:30ish for the crowd and off we went.

We were joined by friends (Martin from 2/5ths and Todd's close friend Margaret). For the hour or so that we were able to play we pumped out two sets of classic metal for the crowd. Born to be wild, Mike sang everything from 867-5309 to Surrender to Ice Cream Man. During the break I talked some of friends and they were enjoying the music and singing along. Seems like we're not the only ones who grew up on this hard rock stuff.

The end of the evening came and we approached our last song. Mike's sons joins us on stage for a heavy version of TNT. I remember looking to the side of the stage to see one of the carnival co-chairmen trying to tell me that the carnival was over and that we should stop. Needless to say, we finished the song.

Thanks to everyone who came and rocked with us. We are expected to play at some point during this year. Stop by and give us a yell if your in the Whittier area.
