One of the first performances of the group.
Hornet Nation played for Northrop Grumman as part of an Employee Appreciation gathering behind the 902 building
at the El Segundo facility. The company newsletter included some notes about the band.
JAILHOUSE ROCKER:
Elvis impersonator and vocalist John Gilpin rocked the audience on
Employee Appreciation Day July 23 at El Segundo, fronting The Hornet Nation,
an all Northrop Grumman band.
Joining Gilpin, of Materiel's Shortage Management, on Elvis tunes of
"Jailhouse Rock" and "Hound Dog," were Todd Granacki,
of F/A-18 Engineering and Product Definition on rhythm guitar;
Fred Flentye, lead guitarist; Hector Barrera, of Human Resources on guitar/vocals;
Materiel's Steven Hoinsky on keyboards; Steven Cole of R&D on drums;
Ken New of Procurement on sax; JSF's Ed Lugo on bass/vocals,
and Craig Farr of Materiel on percussion/vocals.
