A Deck of Cards
When I look at the Ace – It reminds me that there is but one God.
When I look at the Deuce – It reminds me that the bible is divided into 2 parts (old and new testaments).
When I look at the Three – I think of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
When I look at the Four – I think of the four gospels
(Matthew, Mark, Luke and John).
When I look at the Five – I reminds me of the five wise virgins
that trimmed their lamps
(there were 10 and 5 were wise and saved;
Mathew Chapter 25: verses 1-13).
When I look at the Six – It reminds me that in six days
God made this great heaven and earth;
book of Genesis Chapter 1: verses 1-31).
When I look at the Seven – It reminds me that on the seventh day,
God rested;
book of Genesis 1, Chapter 2, verse 1).
When I look at the eight – I think of the 8 righteous people that
God saved when He destroyed this earth
(Noah and his wife, their 2 sons and their wives;
(book of Genesis, Chapter 6 verse 10 / Chapter 7 verse 7).
When I see the nine – I think of the lepers that Jesus saved,
and nine of them didn’t go back to thank Him
(Gospel of Luke, Chapter 17, verses 11-18).
When I see the Ten – I think of the 10 commandments that
God handed down to Moses on a table of stone
(book of Exodus, Chapter 20).
When I see the Jacks – I think of knaves
(an unprincipled and crafty person) and the trickster, the Devil.
When I see the Queen – I think of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
who is queen of Heaven.
When I see the King – It reminds me there is but one
King of Heaven.
When I count the value of each card in a deck –
I find 365, the numbers of days in a year
There are 52 cards, the number of weeks in a year.
There are 4 suits, the numbers of weeks in a month and
the number of seasons in a year.
There are 12 picture cards,
the number of months in a year.
There are 13 types of cards,
the number of weeks in a quarter
(ace, deuce, three, four, five, etc...)
There is a song that was recorded by
several artist's which was written by T. Texas Tyler
about a man using a deck of cards to describe the bible.
The name of that song is "The Deck of Cards".
Tyler wrote and recorded "The Deck of Cards" in 1948.
The spoken word single, which was his biggest hit,
tells the story of a World War II soldier
who explains how a deck of playing cards serves him as
a Bible, an almanac and a prayer book.
